Brown Square Health Center

Hello Everyone,

Today is the last day of service for me and it’s hard to believe that an entire year has passed. It has been such a learning experience. I learned a lot about family medicine in a community health center. I learned about struggles that physicians and other health care providers face as they try to work with an underserved community. I also had the unique experience of getting to know the barriers and the struggles the communities face as they interact with the health care system. However, despite the struggles I met inspiring people on both sides who work tirelessly to make things better. Thanks to these individuals, I am more hopeful about my own future endeavors. I am more confident about pursuing my passion to make a difference in the global community as a result of the inspiration and the experience I gained this past year. The RYY program at Brown Square has a lot of potential to serve the community in need and I think next year VISTA will have an amazing experience. I can’t wait to hear about her success! Thanks everyone and wish you all the best!
